Once again, the siren call of the spindle has wooed me. I liberated my lightest spindle and am attempting to spin something close to lace-weight with this yummy roving I got from The Arts at Eagles Find on Etsy. I love my spindles :) (The wheel and I are still not on speaking terms.) I've tried taking them with me to spin in public like I do with knitting, but my skill level is still somewhat low, and... Well, they're called "drop" spindles for a reason, y'know.
Recently, I discovered the Spindolyn:
It is a quill-supported lap spindle. It's not easy for me to describe this in my own words, but the inventor has a video of the Spindolyn in use:

I ordered one with my birthday, and it should arrive in a few days. I'll keep you updated! Right away, though, I'm already impressed. Each Spindolyn is hand made on a per-order basis, so it makes me feel rather special that my Spindolyn was made just for me. I'm quite excited. I've got a pound of natural grey roving just waiting to be turned into a sweater, and if all goes well, I should be able to spin it at work and on the go.
